The village of CHASTEL ARNAUD

Located in the Diois region, Chastel Arnaud is a village whose name comes from the Count  Arnaud,  who founded the town of Crest,  and who came to live here in the 17th century. You can discover ruins of his castle on the Montagne Saint-Andéol.

Further down, in the village, the medieval Priory of Saint Moirans from the 9th century and the Chapel Saint André show how the Christian influence dominated the architectural landscape  of the Diois region

Ideally located, the village is the perfect place for ramblers who want to enjoy its wild and protected nature.

Nearby, you’ll find the Cliffs of Rochecourbe and its Rock which offer tourists a spectacular view over the valley and Contède Gorges. Nearby, you’ll also find a 700 year old chestnut tree, whose impressive size makes it one of the most remarkable in France.

Still in the area, stands the Trois Becs Cliff and the forest of Saou. At its bottom, you’ll discover the magnificent Gorges de Saint-Moirans  and Hannibal’s Cave and its
real prehistorical treasure dating from the Bronze Age.
